The Sulphur-crested Cockatoo (Cacatua galerita) is a large, white parrot native to Australia, New Guinea, and surrounding islands. It is known for its distinctive yellow crest, which it can raise when excited. These birds are highly social and often live in noisy flocks, primarily feeding on seeds, nuts, berries, and sometimes insects. They are also renowned for their intelligence and ability to mimic various sounds, including human speech. The birds are protected in many areas but are considered a pest in some parts of Western Australia, where they have been introduced.

Fun Fact:

They are not only great mimics but also enjoy putting on a show! In the wild, Sulphur-crested Cockatoos can often be seen performing elaborate dances, bobbing their heads and spreading their tails to attract attention from their flockmates​.
