Perth to Jurien Bay: A Road Trip with Sand Dunes & Sea Lions 🚐✨

Sorry for the long wait to read about our adventures again! The past month has been spent working and saving up to continue our travels. It wasn’t the most exciting time, but necessary—though we’re still waiting on Yorick’s last paycheck (fingers crossed that won’t be an issue).

With our little apartment in the rearview mirror, we hit the road in our Cheapa 2 Berth camper, eager to explore Western Australia’s breathtaking coastline at our own pace. Our first stop? The Lancelin Sand Dunes.

The dunes were absolutely stunning—towering white peaks against a deep blue sky. We climbed to the top, feeling the soft sand shift beneath our feet. While we didn’t try sandboarding, we watched a whole convoy of little Mad Max-style sand buggies zoom past, kicking up clouds of dust. It was a wild sight and added to the surreal, almost otherworldly atmosphere of the place.

Back on the road, we made our way to Jurien Bay, where we settled in for the night, ready for an early morning adventure. This morning, we joined a sea lion snorkel tour, and it was definitely one for the highlight reel. We spent about 30 of our allotted 45 minutes in the water without a single sea lion in sight and were starting to lose hope—until we spotted three coming off the beach to join us.

These playful, curious creatures twirled and spun through the crystal-clear water, coming right up to check us out. Watching them glide effortlessly through the ocean was pure magic. The moment would have been perfect… if not for the screaming German kids and a few clueless tourists poking the poor sea lions with selfie sticks. It’s frustrating how some people interact with wildlife without any understanding or respect.

With salty hair and big smiles, we climbed back into the camper, already excited for the next leg of our journey. Western Australia never disappoints!

Where to next? 🚐💨
